DIANE PAYNE, Director

Diane began her duties as Director of the Principal Fellows Program in December, 2011. Diane comes to the position after having served as a school principal for more than 20 years including serving as principal of Broughton High School in Raleigh, NC for 14 years. In addition to being a principal at all three levels, Diane has worked with the Leadership Group of the Carolinas, served on the faculty of the Principals’ Executive Program, and on several committees of the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

Diane has published articles in the High School Magazine, the NASSP Bulletin, and Principal Leadership. She co-authored (with Sondra Van Sant) Psychological Type in Schools: Applications for Educators and Great Minds Don’t Think Alike!

Diane lives in Raleigh with her husband Mike, a retired district court judge. They have two daughters and three grandchildren.

 CAROLINE GREEN

Caroline  joined the Center for School Leadership Development in 2001 as a program coordinator for the Principals’ Executive Program. In 2006 she was appointed program coordinator for the North Carolina Principal Fellows Program. In this role she is responsible for processing scholarship loan applications, maintaining the information data base of Principal Fellows, both current and alumni, and processing many of the arrangements and logistics for the Principal Fellows Program. Caroline is always available to answer questions and provide assistance to the Fellows. 

Caroline is active in community outreach programs and sings with her church choir in Durham. She has three children and is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in African, African American Diaspora Studies.
