Principal Fellows Program Enrichment Seminars

2015-2016 Enrichment Seminars -- Class 21

Class 21 Fellows will participate in  enrichment seminars  on the following dates:

Wednesday, September 30:  Legal Update with emphasis on Special Education presented by Carolyn Waller, attorney; Teacher Appraisal System with Kim Simmons, Educator Evaluation Consultant for North Carolina, DPI. This session will take place at the Center for School Leadership Development .

Wednesday, October 21 and Thursday, October 22: Principal Fellows will participate in the World View Global Education Symposium at the Friday Center.

Thursday, November 12:  Dr. Jim Johnson, William R. Kenan Jr. Distinguished Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship will provide information on the important topic of Diversity in Schools in his session on " Diversity in Schools: Implications for Principals."

Ms. Cindy Mccormic, former high school and middle school principal and Executive Coach will make a presentation on "Using Data for School Improvement."

Wednesday, January 27:  Critical Conversations for Improved Instruction with Kim Simmons and Action-oriented Leadership with Dr. Bill Sterrett, UNC-Wilmington.

Wednesday, February 12: Marketing Yourself

Wednesday, April 13: This seminar focuses on Communication. Beth McCullough will discuss  "Crisis Leadership: How to Protect your Hard-Won Reputation."

2015-2016 Enrichment Seminars -- Class 22

Class 22 Fellows will participate in  enrichment seminars  on the following dates:

Friday, September 25: Sondra Van Sant will present a session on "Leadership: Start with Self-Understanding."

Friday, October 23:  Susanne Long and Brent Anderson, Onslow County Schools, will present a session on "Leadership Lessons from the Wizard of Oz" and Dr. Deborah Jones will present a session on "Principals as Instructional Leaders."

Friday, November 20:  Dr. Dionne McLaughlin, Assistant Professor at North Carolina Central University, will discuss “Making Effective Leadership Decisions” and Ms. Cindy McCormic, former high school and middle school principal and Executive Coach will make a presentation on “Using Data for School Improvement.”

Friday, January 15: Carolyn A. Waller, an Attorney at Law with Tharrington Smith, LLP, will discuss recent developments in school law. Dr. Jennifer Mangrum and Mr. Jeremy Spielman, National Paideia Center faculty members, will facilitate a seminar on the book Lincoln on Leadership.

Friday, April 22: Fellows will participate in activities designed to prepare them for their administrative internship.
